Cabinet work in New Braunfels
Two kinds of house here, and they need very different drawings. Old cottages with trim worth keeping, and newer kitchens people want opened up.
River houses and old town cottages
New Braunfels splits into two jobs for us. There are the old German cottages near downtown and Gruene, small square rooms with original trim that is worth every bit of the trouble it causes. Then there are the newer houses out toward the loop with a builder kitchen the owners want opened up. The drawings look nothing alike.
In the cottages we keep the trim and work around it, scribing to walls that have moved and matching a casing profile nobody has milled in eighty years. In the newer houses the work is usually pulling a bank of uppers off a peninsula, adding a taller pantry, and getting the refrigerator out of the path everybody walks.
Water in the air, and houses that get rented
Being close to the Comal and the Guadalupe means moisture, and a house that sits empty between weekends swings from humid to air conditioned and back. Solid wood moves under that. Painted doors with a floating panel and plywood boxes take it in stride. A cheap veneered box in a river house is a two year cabinet.
We also do a fair amount of work on short term rentals here, where a kitchen has to look right in a photograph and survive people who do not own it. That means a hard sprayed finish, drawer slides rated well past what a family uses, and a layout with nothing hidden that a guest will go hunting for at midnight.

Yes. Interior cabinet work never touches the outside of the house, so the rules covering exteriors are not in play. We still match the interior trim, which is the part that matters in those rooms.
Yes, if we see the calendar early. Give us your open window at the design visit and we build to hit it, since most of the work happens in our shop and not in your house.
Not the way we build them. The panel floats inside its frame so the wood can move, and the finish is sprayed on all six sides so moisture cannot get in through the back.
Yes. Tell us about the access and whether anybody will be there, because a locked gate and no phone signal are the two things that cost a day.
Yes, and it is a common ask in the houses out by the river. Same boxes, same finish, and we leave room for the appliance you already own.
